What is CrossFit KIDS?
CrossFit Kids is a method for teaching children the principles of mechanics, consistency and intensity. Consistently good mechanics translates to physical literacy, enhanced sports performance, and fewer sports injuries for kids. Not only that, a vast body of research indicates that exercise is beneficial to cognitive function, which means that consistent adherence to the program can have a positive impact on children’s academic achievement.
CrossFit Kids is meant to be BIG fun for all ages. Broad–Inclusive–General fun. Fun means we provide an active alternative to sedentary pursuits leading to less childhood obesity and all-around better health for our children. This program offers scalable workouts and skills for any age or experience level and accounts for the varied maturation status one can find in a class full of kids.
Our CrossFit Swarm KIDS classes will run in 6 week sessions. Classes are two days a week (Tuesdays & Thursdays) at 515pm. Classes will be held in our large downstairs gym area to allow enough space for safe social distancing. CrossFit Swarm is following the Westfield Public School mask policy which requires masks to be worn at this time. If you have concerns, please let us know.
Each class is approx. 45 minutes in length. Your child will learn and practice functional movements and complete workouts designed to increase fitness, foster teamwork and instill confidence! They will run, jump, push, pull, lift, climb, and throw. CrossFit Kids is a great way to improve strength and conditioning for sport or fitness, stay active during the off-season, and learn healthy lifestyle practices that will last a lifetime!
We do include some basic nutrition and healthy habit knowledge during our classes. If you or your family have any specific concerns or practices that we should be aware of, please let us know.
