Nope! Most of our members start just like you. We assess each new members fitness level.

Then our workouts are “universally scaled”, with a different version of each days workout designed for every level. As you level up you can take on more challenging variants of the workout if you desire. Sign up today!

If you’re a beginner and just starting out then 2-4 times per week will be enough to see results and allow you to adjust.

You’ll be sore some days, so allow yourself recovery days between training sessions at first – over the course of the following months work up towards 5 days per week if you want to maximize! Sign up today!

We offer an exciting, challenging and varied programming which will keep it fun! The workouts are published in advance

Some days are more strength focused where will focus on our lifts. Movements like barbell squats, kettlebell swings and occasionally some olympics lifts will be included.

Other days, we may focus more on cardio & conditioning with rowers and bikes. Some days are focused on body weight movements like pushups, sit-ups, and pull-ups. Some days are a mix of everything. Sign up today!

Each class is 60 minutes and led by qualified coaches. We always start together with a warm-up designed to activate the muscles being used in the workout.

The coach will brief on the group on the workout, the movements, and the proper form. During the workout, the coach will be guiding and providing instruction.

At the end of class, we will cool down together to accelerate recovery and reduce potential injury. Sign up today!

Justin Morini


I’m coach Justin and I have been a member at Swarm since November of 2021. I started shadowing Mary and Brian being trained to be a coach in January of 2022, and I took my CrossFit L1 training at the end of that same month. I started CrossFit in June 2017 and before that I was basically a normal gym guy. I would do some light cardio on the treadmill or elliptical, do weight/cable machines, then maybe some basic free weight movements. I was never even close to reaching my physical ability or aesthetic goals. I would look at online articles and would go down unproductive paths wasting time and effort. The CrossFit methodology has changed my life significantly, helping me achieve goals I would consider unachievable in the past. Becoming a coach has inspired me even more, and I am always looking forward to helping others achieve a fitter and healthier version of themselves.

I’ve been a lifelong athlete, growing up as a competitive figure skater, softball pitcher and then a Division 1 collegiate track and field athlete at Northeastern University. I earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Architecture at NU, now working as a licensed Architect in the retail sector.

After college, I would go to commercial gyms to continue lifting weights and stay in shape. With a desire to learn new ways to exercise and increase functional performance not just muscle size, I discovered CrossFit in 2021 with my now husband. My passion and knowledge for CrossFit exploded and I want to share that with the Swarm community as a coach.

I’m a Technical Sergeant in the Air National Guard at Barnes ANG Base. I’m married and have a daughter. I started my CrossFit journey in January of 2019. Before that, I would go to your standard gym, perform some cardio and lift weights. I dabbled in Zumba and Yoga, and I achieved a black belt in Karate when I was younger. I decided that I wanted something different and something that would challenge me. I joined Swarm and started with our BEX program, and I was hooked! I quickly converted to CrossFit a month later.

Fast forward to 2023, and now I have my CrossFit Level 1 certification and also joined the CrossFit KIDS coaching team.

I admit, I’m a bit of a dork when I coach, but that’s because I love to have fun with it. I want people to have a great experience while they’re learning CrossFit!

I’m a project and operations manager for a healthcare system. I received my undergrad at Westfield State and my MBA from Elms college. I started teaching at Elms as an adjunct professor for their MBA program in 2019 and have been doing CrossFit since 2018. Naturally, I tried to combine these two passions and was provided the opportunity to coach in 2021. My goal for coaching is to make the hour they’re with me the best hour of our members’ day because I can honestly say that coaching them is the best hour of mine.

I started as the typical kid who couldn’t play enough sports. Growing up, I played on multiple hockey and baseball teams at the same time. When I had some free time, I’d make my way to the golf course. After high school, I was lucky enough to make and play four years of college baseball. This is where my introduction to the Crossfit-style programming started. In the summer of 2013, I joined Crossfit Swarm to help my performance while pitching and have been hooked ever since. The community and competition have kept me coming back for more. These were two of the biggest reasons I decided to start coaching. I completed the level one seminar initially in 2016 to gain valuable knowledge I could pass along to all of the members who have come through our gym in the hopes of helping them get better each day.

I have been doing CrossFit since 2017. I began teaching Group exercises in 2005, and I love being able to make a difference in people’s lives.

I have served as the CEO of Asnuntuck Community for 3 years. Before this position, I was the Academic Dean and a Professor of Biology. I specialize in Genetics, General Biology, and Microbiology. I have 2 Master’s degrees — an MBA and MS in Biology. In 2020, I completed my EdD in Higher Education Leadership. I have been married to my high school sweetheart since 1998, and I have two children, James and Elizabeth.

I was born and raised in Rhode Island and am a graduate of URI. In 1995, I moved out to Western MA and began teaching Elementary Physical Education in Palmer, MA, and completed my Masters’s Degree in Movement Science at Westfield State University. For the past 20 years, I have worked for the Capitol Region Education Council (CREC), teaching Sports, Exercise, and Health Science in our IB Diploma Program at the Academy of International Studies. In my spare time, I enjoy photography and being a dedicated fan of the Westfield Bombers Girls Volleyball Team.

I’ve been a CrossFitter since February 2017. I joined Swarm in January of 2022 and became a coach in June of 2022. I recently left a career in education to work full time here at Swarm and it is amazing to be able to do what I love every day.

Mary Cook


As owner of Swarm with Brian, it is our passion to help our members achieve their goals and learn all they are capable of. It’s fulfilling my life passion to be able to be part of their health and wellness journies and help them see their potential. My passion stems from my own transformation story.

I grew up a heavy child and continued to gain weight through my teens. At 21 I was at a routine Dr’s appt and couldn’t believe the scale read 352 pounds. I was told I would be wheelchair bound with knees giving out on me if I didn’t do something soon. I was guided toward weight loss surgery. It was that moment that sparked a fire that would change my life. I didn’t want surgery. I wanted to prove to myself that I could make the life long commitment to a healthier and happier me. It was a LONG road. Many ups, downs, and life events took place over the next 20 years – but I never gave up. I put in the work, and consistently showed up day after day. Leveraging portion control and making healthy nutritious food choices while maintaining my physical fitness, I finally hit my personal goal of losing 200 pounds on my 35th birthday in Nov 2014!!

When I began my journey I could only walk for a few minutes at a time. It took a long time, but slowly worked up to small walk/runs and then Planet Fitness. I became a licensed Zumba instructor in 2014 and taught classes 6 days week. I loved the people and the energy! Motivating and holding each other accountable – the amazing friendships.

I tried CrossFit for the first time at SWARM in October 2016 and instantly fell in love (with CrossFit, and with Brian too!) In 2017 I started to shadow the classes he coached while also focusing on improving myself as an athlete. I began assistant coaching and in Jan 2018, I became Level 1 Certified and then earned my Level 2 certification in Sept 2021. I LOVE learning and improving myself to bring the very best experience to my members’ day.

We launched our Nutrition program in 2020 and it’s been an incredible addition to our gym. The program we offer is about creating fundamental lifelong healthy habits. Habits that have helped me maintain a 200-pound weight loss over the last 8 years! I bring my life experiences to the table. I relate to the struggles as I have been there. I continue to walk the walk everyday and feel lucky to provide support and accountability to others along their journey to their healthiest self.

Brian Cook

I was very athletic in high school playing Baseball, Soccer, and Tennis. I went to college, left all sports, and gained some weight over the years. I decided to take charge and change my life so I started Bodybuilding. I did a traditional bodybuilding routine and nutrition program for years. I then started getting into Triathlons for more diversity. I found CrossFit by accident in 2008. I was researching off-season training for triathlons. I also posted an injury from a bicycle accident which resulted in surgery on my optical socket.

I tried CrossFitting by following the leading site and realized quickly that I didn’t have the equipment. I went to the only affiliate in Western Mass, PVCF. They were in Easthampton at the time. After about a year, I heard that they were moving to Northampton. Deciding that it was too far to drive every day, I took a deep breath and decided that I should affiliate. I became CrossFit Level 1 certified in October 2009 and moved to my first location (the floor space was 500 sq. ft. with only 12 clients!)

When we opened we were the 2nd CrossFit affiliate in Western Mass. We kept growing and in March 2011, moved into a 4000 sq. ft floor space on Mainline Drive in Westfield and finally to our current location, 4 Coleman Ave, Westfield in 2015. Coleman Ave has 5000 sq, ft of floor space. I have never done a triathlon since because CrossFit became my sport. I ran the SunTrust National Half Marathon in D.C . in April 2009 and I trained CrossFit only for it. I did only one training run which was 8 miles long.

Most of my runs in CrossFit were less than a mile. The reason that I started Swarm was to help as many people as I could get fitter, healthier, and happier.
